Getting to Sikandang
Getting to Sikandang Island is part of your adventure. Start your journey from Medan’s Kualanamu International Airport (KNO), with multiple transportation options to suit your preferences.
1/ Medan to Singkil
You can opt for a private car service, which offers a comfortable and convenient travel experience. It is important to note that you should prepare cash in advance, as ATM services in Singkil are quite limited. The available ATMs only accept Mastercard, and there are occasional service disruptions, so having enough cash on hand will ensure a smooth trip without any financial inconveniences.
2/ Singkil to Balai Island Options
There are several options for traveling from Singkil to Balai Island. Choose from three options. The ferry takes 4-5 hours, costs IDR 32.000,- – 35,000,-, and operates twice weekly. The traditional wooden boat departs daily (9-11 AM), takes 3-4 hours, and costs IDR 100.000,-. The speed boat is the fastest, taking 1.5 hours and costing IDR 2,500,000 – 3,000,000.
3/ Final Leg: Balai to Sikandang
For the final leg of the journey from Balai to Sikandang, you have two options. You can take a speed boat, which takes about 30 minutes, or a traditional boat, which takes 1.5 to 2 hours. The cost for either option is IDR 150,000 per person per trip.
